Skroce, who has co-owned the store with her husband Vlado since 1995, was approached by the gift and promotions firm that produces the Emmy® awards gift bags about including its chocolates as a unique way to provide business visibility in a bad economy. Skroce said yes and immediately got the staff working on the project. The gift bags were distributed to awards show attendees and presenters.
“We hand-dip all our chocolate-enrobed specialties,” said Skroce of the many chocolate-covered fruits, nuts, chips and pretzels the store is known for throughout Bergen County in northern New Jersey. “Putting together 1,000 custom bags of chocolates was a lot of work but we made it all happen within just three days.”
Skroce explained that the milk and dark chocolate had to first be tempered, then trays of chocolate bark with fruits and nuts were made and cut, and each pretzel was hand-dipped into the confection; after cooling and assembly the bags—brown polka-dot print, each tied with ribbon—were shipped out west to be inserted into the gift bags.
